Shawl For An Art Lover PDF Pattern

£5.00

Sometimes you just want to knit something beautiful.I designed Shawl for an Art Lover for my wedding and I wanted to make something that was beautiful and also imbued with meaning.

Shawl for an Art Lover uses one of my favourite shawl constructions — the humble triangular shape — and I chose a light silk/mohair yarn that would keep me warm in the middle of winter.

The pattern motifs are inspired by the city in which I live: Glasgow, Scotland. The delicate lace takes its cue from the sinuous Art Nouveau lines of Charles Rennie Mackintosh’s iconic architecture, while the solid strip with Estonian nupp/lace stitches calls back to the tenement tiles seen in the 19th century apartment blocks throughout Glasgow. The pattern is named after House for an Art Lover, a Glasgow house designed by Mackintosh himself.

I hope you enjoy this project as much as I did. Please share your photos using the hashtags #kariebookish and #shawlforanartlover so I can see your lovely work!
